Hi-I'm taking a 53 Skylark apart and find that someone in the distant past went nuts with an undercoating gun and sprayed every square inch of the underfloor, chassis, inside of all fenders, splash pans, even the whole inside of the trunk compartment. Unfortunately, they did not spray the inside of the passenger floors so they rusted. I'm dealing with that problem right now.
We had to scrape off a good deal of tar just to find the bolt heads for removing various parts of the body.
I'm wondering how much "sound deadener" tar was likely to have been sprayed on the underparts of the floors and inside the fenders at the factory level? Anybody know where the underbody and fenders were likely to have had tar during original assembly??
Thanks for your help.
