Just in case you happened to not see the posting in the February Bugle, the Glass City Chapter is hosting this year's Regional. Dates are Friday, June 20 and Saturday June 21. Location is the Sauder Village, Museum, and Heritage Inn located in the NW Ohio village of Archbold, only 4 miles from Exit 25 of the Ohio Turnpike. This was the site of the 2001 Regional and a memorable time for those who were there. The big news is that the host hotel has more than doubled in size and offerings for the family. The village is a recreation and gathering of actual buildings that were part of the pioneer life in the Great Black Swamp region of Ohio in the 1800s. Craftspeople on site demonstrate pioneer skills such as glassblowing , blacksmithing, weaving and others. Sauder Furniture calls Archbold home and has built their new Factory Showroom and Outlet Store on site. The Regional will feature driving tours to Stony Ridge Winery, Grandpa's Museum (a private collection of S Guage trains as well as a diecast vehicle collection), and Spangler Candy Company in Bryan known worldwide for Dum Dum suckers and candy canes. A swap meet, peer judging, and a Saturday night banquet with musical entertainment round out the planned events. The banquet fee of only $25.00 per person includes admission to the village. Make room reservations directly with the Heritage Inn at 800-590-9755, mention Buick Club. I will have a table at the Northeast Ohio Chapter BCA Swap Meet on Sunday, April 20. Information and registration forms will be at hand. Sorry I missed everyone at the SE Michigan Chapter Meet in March. The flu bug left me in no shape for the drive up and back. If you're looking for a nice relaxing weekend in the country with fellow Buick enthusiasts, then you should make plans for this Regional.
We are very pleased with the number of Buicktown members planning to be there, so if you have any questions about the 2008 National in Flint, the people who know will be here.
