Tom? (don't know your name for sure) I think they are the same.  I have a 55 Roadmaster 2 dr ht with a broken leading edge vent frame.  I found a replacement off of a Cadillac(54,55 or 56, don't know which) that looked exactly the same as my broken one,EXCEPT, the one off the Cadillac was from a convertible which are very slightly different on the very top of the frame. The hard top version has an indentation at the top, which is the striker point for the "flippers" which the convertibles don't have.  I still have the Cadillac Convertable assembly if it would be of any help to you.  Sincerely Larry

Can you post a photo of your car's vent wings? I have only seen two 1954 Super convertibles, and both had the rare, 1954-only, Super-only (I think that is the only series that had these) frameless vent windows with no cranks. They pivot on friction fittings in the door. I was not aware of these until Jerry Bodden, former BCA Board member, pointed it out on a 1954 Super convertible owned by some members on Long Island. Buick only did this in 1954, and only on the Super convertible, if I have the story right. I don't think the Cadillac convertibles had this feature.

If your car has the more conventional chrome-framed vent windows with hand cranks, then my friend Larry Minery is right--Cadillac would be the same.

My son can tell you definitively that there was one Cavalier Blue with tan top Roadmaster at the 2003 Buick Birthday Party in Flint that had these. He (12 years old at the time) and I were walking around the car, I with my hands clasped behind my back and he pointing to and barely touching the glass and saying "Wow Dad, look at these frameless vent glasses" when from the rear of the car comes a loud "DON'T TOUCH THE CAR KID". Needless to say his day was ruined, as he was very conscientous of not touching the cars and the one time he did he gets yelled at. So yea the Roadmasters had them also. I believe it was the earlier year makes that had them?
edit) a little later Jordan sorta consoled himself and excused the guy by commenting that since the wings depend on friction to work he probably didn't want people moving them and wearing them out and that that was the reason they were probably later changed out to the conventional framed roll out type......

OK, here hopefully is the bottom line of the question of the non-framed vent wing of the 1954 Buicks and Cadillacs. Leif is correct in showing the channel for the later body 54 56 and 76C's. Looking a little deeper we find the actual "front door wing glass" for the early bodies (up to 2486). Taking that part number and checking the Hollander Interchange shows the Buick glass (#1023) the same as the Cadillac. So tompett, it looks as though the two will indeed interchange.
Hope this helps. It was fun finally figuring it out and getting to the bottom of it. \:\)

Thanks for all your effort - I assumed it might interchange with Cadillac but my 54 Catalog did not show. Tom
