The data plate on my 70 Cutlass Conv. lists the exterior as 75 - Matador Red, the Top color as A - White, and the Interior Trim as 977. I assume this to be either white or pearl white but can't find a list to set it straight. Does anybody have this info? And if I get a Boot to cover the top when down, it should match the interior color, right? Thanks - Ken Helsby

The 1974 parts book shows 1969-72 code 977 is Parchment/Ivory vinyl bucket seats in Supreme series. Boot generally matches interior, though I have seen them matched to the car color.

"That's a strange concept, Son" said my father as he sampled the day's run of silvery-clear moonshine for taste and quality. "Good 'shine, that. Your grandpap would be proud that the gift has passed on to another generation. But yes, it's real strange that some folks feel like a varmint has more right to illegally inhabit and destroy your property than you have to prevent it from doing it."

"Come to think of it, that's why your Uncle Reade sold off all them rental houses he had. It was costing him more to fix what the varmints tore up than he was making off 'em. And the govamint wouldn't let him evict them."

Glenn,

Thanks. But then why when I look at available colors for seat covers, etc in catalogs like Year One and Fusick, can't I find Parchment or Ivory as an avilable color for my year car? It only lists Pearl. Very confusing. - Ken

If the door panels are still with the car, match the seats to those. If you don't have them or they're beyond using, I think you can use the pearl white trim. Plus sometimes the factory used different material for the same trim color in different years.

I go by the factory literature more than I do a supplier's catalog, but YO and Fusick are as good as you'll find for Oldsmobile reproduction stuff. Legendary and PUI make the majority of repro interior kits anyway.

Contact SMS Auto Fabrics http://www.smsautofabrics.com and give them your trim code. They'll send you a small swatch of what the car is supposed to have.
