Has anyone ever converted the oil bath aircleaner (1956 vintage)for a 4 barrel carb so that a dry paper filter element could be used, and if so, what is required? Thanks.

Hello: Someone is making reproduction bat wing air cleaners that look pretty much the same as an original except they use a modern paper air filters that you can buy anywhere. They pop up on e-bay for about $125-150 all the time. (advertisers say these are made in USA by the way)

Ed, I have converted my batwing air cleaner to paper type. Only need the proper size paper filter that I found at Napa.I'm not near my car now but if you do a search this has been posted in the past.A word of caution this will lift the air cleaner about a half inch over stock and may cause the wingnut to dent your hood. don't ask why I know this.
