Hi, I just purchased a 50' Super Sedanette. Its in very good shape with only 46k miles. However, the interior was updated in modern fabrics and I'd like to return it to the correct cloth interior for a Super. I might consider jazzing things up a bit by installing a 50 Roadmaster interior (fabric and leather - if that exists).
I've tried LeBarron Bonney and they did not have any fabrics listed, but they might be able to match if I could supply a sample or photo.
If anyone has photos of a 50 Super or Roadmaster interior, that shows the fabric in detail, could you email them to me at davdag@pacbell.net.
Thanks
David

David-
I used to own a '50 Buick Special 2 dr fastback coupe. (Black lacquer -- a real beauty.) It had a light- to medium-grey wool upholstery with some fine stripes spaced about 1/2 inch apart. The stripes were about 1 or 2 threads wide and as I recall, and they were different colors. Any nice wool upholstery like that would be close. Sorry, I have no photos.

There is a thread on this website somewhere from MICHAELMIS
who has had the original wool design material reproduced and has some for sale. He has a 1950 Super in original condition, maybe he can take some pictures of his interior for you. ;\)

Go to http://www.buicknet.com and start looking through the various pages this guy has posted from the 1950 showroom sample book. The Super's upholstery is a gray herringbone wool, and is pictured there.

By the way, does anybody need dark green leather upholstery for their 1950 Buick? I have a Roadmaster 76-R that needs some, but not a lot. It is a very smooth, shiny, dark green. No one seems to have it in stock, but I found a place that can have some made to match it, but they need an order of a full hide or two, to the tune of about $800. I only need 3 square feet or so. Therefore, I'm looking for someone to go in with me on this special order, to share the cost and the leather.

I have had great luck with SMS Fabrics out of Washington State http://www.smsautofabrics.com/ . If you send them the trim code for the car you want to match they will send you samples. I got some nice stuff for a '58 Edsel Citation I restored.

I have a 1949 76S and their samples, while a bit pricey, are very good. They are not Buick specialists so be sure and send the trim code or you may not get what you want.

Their grey fabric was $80 a yard, I think. For my door panels, I found a very reasonable vinyl match at a large fabric warehouse here in Houston (Glick's) and a match to the grey fabric at a small regular auto upholstrey shop for $25 a yard or so. NOBODY has the wide gangster pinstripe that was original except SMS that I have seen, at least not from some modern application.

Best of Luck!

I didn't know that SMS sold leather. I'll give them a try. By the way, Bill Hirsch in Newark, N.J. has been advertising the 1949 Roadmaster sedanet pin-striped cloth upholstery in the Buick Bugle.
