Hi,
I'm a newbie - I bought a 68 442 (34487M) without an engine or trans - the guy I bought the car from threw in an auto trans - PA code - tag says 77-PA- serial # . I assume that this is a trans from a 77 model, but am unsure if it it is a TurboHydro 350 or 400. It has a short tail shaft and the driveshaft yoke fits. Is this trans worth rebuilding ? I am either putting a 455 or a 425 with a .030 overbore in for engine .

An easy way of identifying if it's a TH350 or TH400 is by the location of the vacuum modulator. The TH400 has the vacuum modulator near the dipstick hole and the TH350 has it near the back of the transmission. Also according to my Motors transmission manual it also denote the PA code as a TH400 transmission. HTH

Jeff,
Thanks for the information. The vacuum modulator is indeed by the dipstick hole.
