Recently I posted something for sale on my local Craigs list. Here's the third reply I got, which closely mimicks the 2nd reply:

 Quote:
Hello seller,
I am marthins i am from South bound brook Nj, and i am intersted to buy ur item placed on ads, well my payment method is cashier checks and as for the shipping i have my liable shipper that helps me with my shipping needs , so they will come over to ur place to pick up the goods, i will also like to know the asking last price for the product
,so if you are interested in selling to me i would like you to give me theTotalprice and feed me out with this info
name:
address:
city:
state:
zipcode:
phone:
country:
i hope to hear from you soon take care back by sending me mail

Honestly, Bound Brook Nj?// and Feed me out this information.

I feel like replying: The total price is 850 million in south american euros which I 'm sure you can get from the Dutchess of Uranashole who keeps sending me e mails looking for a way to get her wealth out of Moohshine since her hubby the Doof of Dutches was apparently beheaded. And if you'll send it right away in certified Cheks I'll be sure to send the goods to your shipper in Allunia and beg him to pick up the goods...But no refunds jerk..

John,

You crack me up!

Now even Craigs List isn't sacred! AAArrrgghhh!!!!

Seriously, I can't be happier with Craigs List. I have already let Mr. Earl know I got a 73 Riviera with 60,000 one owner miles off Craigs List for $800.

For the life of me I can not understand why this car did not sell. It is loaded, excepting A/C. It was ordered in October 1972 the way the elderly gentleman wanted it. It has original spare, original exhaust and the window sticker is in the glovebox, along with all records from new.

He passed away in 1982, and it sat in storage for 25 years. His widow auctioned it off, and the next buyer saved it from a demo derby bidder!

It is pristine except for some kick up behind the rear wheels and the engine is stuck. Oh well, I'll rebuild it to Stage 1 specs this winter.

So I am a believer in Craigs List. John, I'm still laughing but sorry thathappened to you. My god, what will those Nigerians try next?

Looks nice. But $30,000. You can get a nice driver convertible for $30,000.

Yeah, that price looks a bit high...and for "amazing" condition, the upholstery and carpet look like they could use a cleaning at the very least.

Why is it folks who want that sort of money for a car won't even bother to clean it up before taking the photos?

That being said, I'd love to have a car like that. Selling Suzanne on a wagon is a bit tougher, but it could be done...eventually.

I can't argue about the price or condition. But sometimes the car has just enough going for it that cleanliness or price is a secondary consideration. In this case I looked and saw the wagon, then the 54, and then the 3 speed stick. And in the pictures the car looks solid. I would suggest that this combination may be kinda hard to find today, so it may be worth a bit more than your ordinary classic.

Not that I'd buy it. Personally the 54-56 Wagons are not my cup of tea. And 30K is way out of my league. I'm still looking for $800.00 wagons!!!

HAhahah

Yea that seems to happen to me quite often. Like just this last weekend as a matter of fact. \:\/ But you know, I'd rather pay what some folks consider too much for a scarce car that is straight, solid, has very good glass and is all there than what I see some of these folks pay for a cookie cutter car that has been incorrectly restored and will need half the work done again to make it correct.

OK, back to the subject here

Re the 54 wagon...He says it's a real head turner. He's right there... makes me turn my head back and forth...discusted that he painted it the incorrect color scheme for 54.

Oh, I'd love to have either a 54 or a 56 state wagon. A 56 Century with air...ooohhhhh
but add that to the dream list, along with a 54 Century Convertible, 42 Roadmaster Limo, 36 Business Coupe.

JD, I sincerely hope you find that $800 wagon

So Lamar, if I hear you correctly, you're saying I'm better off buying the '54 wagon that is up here? ;\)

Derek and Lamar,

I have one for you. I located it enroute to TRFalls last month. It's a 55 Special Estate Wagon $1400 but I'll bet $1,000 would secure it. I'll try to add a photo or two.

I am considering it, but I really wanted it to be a Century. Oh well. I have to get over that "top of the line" attitude I have. The car was straight and it said it was a Colorado car. It had all the glass out but I think it was piled inside.

I am lukewarm on them. I like the 54-56 actually better then the over-the-top Caballeros of 57-58.

Just what I need...someone keeping a lookout for cars for me. I need a lottery win to be able to procure some land with a workshop if I am to acquire any additional cars.

I'm also starting to think about getting away from project cars...I've got 3 drivers and 4 projects already and the drivers alone keep me pretty busy.

Sigh.
