A friend of mine from California sent me a recent Packard Club magazine with a beautiful Packard centerfold picture. Yes, it was my friend's car. Now, I was so taken by the picture and some of the article that I called and asked about reprinting part of the text and also including the picture itself. I just received an e-mail today giving me permission to use both along with an attached picture.

The point I'm making here is that "anyone" can borrow and reprint filler material and/or pictures to make their newsletter look and feel better. There's nothing so disappointing to me than to see a newsletter with large holes around large font printed text, that could be filled with useful information that your members would find interesting. Make your font size smaller to give you more room and use this type of material to help improve your newsletter.

Back when the Studebaker plant burned, I emailed the newspaper from there and got permission to reprint thier article about it. I also had found a guy on the internet that went to the fire an took photos and emailed him for permission to use them. All it "cost" was two extra newsletters.

In both cases I told them I wanted the permission to use thier items for the newsletter, a little about our club, how many copies of the newsletter normally gets published, I'd give them credit in the newsletter and that I'd be willing to send them a copy with thier item used. Normally the response is good. I've only had one not respond (at all) to my request.
