West Peterson West Peterson Long Time Member Registered: 04/28/04 Posts: 2632 Loc: Dayton	...and worse yet, putting them in your newsletters without checking the facts!!! Without pointing fingers at any particular region/chapter, I find it amazing how many hoax emails are making it into AACA region and chapter newsletters. Why? I suppose it's because it's easy filler. If the last line reads something like this... "Forward this to everyone you care about..." or "This is absolutely true..." ...you can be fairly sure that it's a hoax. There are several websites where you can easily check to see if it's a hoax or not. I think the most common is "Snopes.com". But there are others as well, that will make you think twice before forwarding "urban legends." _________________________ MT2MB

West, with all of the material on this very forum concerning our Museum, Library, and the club itself, I can see no reason why anyone would need to depend on e-mailed material. Every member of a Region has a story to "tell or share". You just have to coax them. I just found out yesterday that a member I've been sending web site info to about his V12 Caddy is actually the fellow that the whole country goes to, to check on authenticity of V12 Caddys! So, you never know what you have in your own backyard until you start to ask questions of your members. Wayne

I always go to one of the debunking sites to check it out. Then send a link to the member with the 'bad news' about the real facts, but am very careful to thank them for their suggestions. I don't want to stop them from sending me legit filler - its a work-in-progress at training them to send me good newsletter stuffings. I feel very fortunate that the membership in my club like to send me stuff, but its been a bit of a long road to get to that point. I'm planning on keeping it that way! _________________________
