As far as I can see, there hasn't been a bill introduced to restructure the gas tax as you have written. Where did you get this info?

Ok, well, I didn't see it in bill form, so have a glass of (insert favorite adult beverage here) and ease back in the lazy boy and dream of $2.50 gallon of fuel...

So if this becomes law the more vehicles you own the better to spread out the milage as I understand it.

The same moron must have been involved in drafting the property tax verses income tax issue that is putting family members and friends against each other.

No, we collectively kicked your a$$ out of here.
After the last several elections, I wish I'd have gone with you!

Every family has an idiot...in PA we send those family members to Harrisburg.

Well, they are at it again! 2008 cars for PA. will have to be C.A.R.B. certified, in other words Ca. standards. I think the estimates are in the $1000-$3500 range increase JUST for CARB certs. It also will eliminate some cars from being legal to own. There's never been anything else good come out of Ca., can't see this as being good either. Oh, and Fast Eddie is going to double your license fees AGAIN.

From greenercars.com "How to Buy Green":

 Quote:
All new vehicles for sale in the United States are certified to meet either Federal emission standards, set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), or California standards, set by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Four New England states—New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Maine—adhere to California's vehicle regulations. (Connecticut, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Wshington state have adopted California standards as well and will soon implement them.) Federal standards apply to all the remaining states.

That's 11 out of 50 states, and about 1/2 the country by population. If you have any chance of moving to or being transfered to any of those states (or really any other state) at this time it'd be pretty foolish to buy a new non-CARB car. Fortunately a wide proportion of cars sold are 50-state certified already, which makes the idea of a $3000 premium when the reg hits PA seem a pretty silly assertion. Any car rated LEV level II or better is a 50 state legal car already. Many cars are available nationwide at competative prices which are SULEV and even PZERO rated!

And if trying to reduce the incredible impact cars hare having to our air quality isn't an appreciable improvement, there never will be any appreciable improvements in life.

Why cheat the system. If drive the mileage you wear and tear the roads. Pay your fair share. as to the fuel consuption that a greenhouse issue. and another discussion.

Washington state adapting Califonis Standards is more of the little guy trying to impress the big guy. It probably does matter with Nacy P. from california running the House of representative in Washington Dc. we all have Califonia emissions and wind trubine soon enoug. Jay Leno wrote an article about the wind turbine on this garage shop. the state of Califonia pays enough in the first 7500 kilowat generated to get a $75000 tax credit which pay for the small system and you get free power after that. The rich get richer and poor get poor. I not faulting Jay, he a smart car collector.
