Moepar Moepar Member Registered: 01/10/01 Posts: 806 Loc: Nebo, NC	Hey Peter I have a question for you. I have taken over the duties of being webmaster for our rinky-dink local Mopar club. I have been doing my site strictly by HTML (no fancy stuff like frontpage, dreamweaver, etc). I have noticed upon viewing the page source on the aaca site that you are using MS Visual Studio 7.1 and was wondering what you thought of it. How easy is it to use? I have a little experience with FrontPage 2002. Since I have been doing this, I have been approached by a few folks to do their websites as well. Have been contemplating getting FP 2003 or some such webpage authoring program. Give me your insight on using your program, and would you use it again if you were to do the site all over again or go with something else. Thanks Dawn _________________________

The AACA site is written in a combination of raw html, frontpage, and visual studio. Personally I like Frontpage, but Go Live and Dreamweaver are great too. Good luck! Moepar Moepar Member Registered: 01/10/01 Posts: 806 Loc: Nebo, NC	Well, as Larry the Cable Guy says, I got-r-done. Still have a few photos I need to 'adjust' & upload but I think I have it licked. Its fairly fast loading for our members with dial up (still can't get dsl in about 1/2 of our county). Got Dreamweaver 8 from a friend, & I like how its laid out better than FrontPage. Like anything else, you gotta get your brain working to initially figure it out. Bought a domain name, & I even got some 'free' hosting - 'free' being I help a friend do his website & we can put the club site into his 'space'. Makes it nice & el cheapo for the club (under $10 a year for the domain name is all we pay). Sure beats the heck out of Geocities freebee site with all 'em stinkin' ads, space limitations & shut downs due to 'high traffic' (more than 2 people in an hour!!) _________________________

Also since you have your own domain Google offers non profits free mail hosting... You can give every member an email address at your domin for free. Moepar Moepar Member Registered: 01/10/01 Posts: 806 Loc: Nebo, NC	Hey Matt The car club site I've been working on is a local club only, & not a chapter/region of the AACA, so I don't think that I can link it to the AACA network. With the purchase of the Domain name, I do get a certain number of email addresses already (usually included in any purchase of a domain name). The only draw back to the Google non profit is that your non profit needs a tax id #, & being the club is so small & no one has "volunteered" to be the designated fill-out-the-tax-form person (not usually enough funds in the till to pay someone at the end of the year), we can't go that route.
