As promised, here is a list of the 2005 AACA Website Awards. Note that (MWM) indicates those who received the coveted Master Web Master award. I'd also like to recognize Judy Edwards - not only did she win a Master Editor award, she received a Master Web Master Award for her Region site, and got the SPARK PLUG Award for all her hard work on the AACA Junior's website!!! Take a look at these sites and see how you too can "kick it up a notch" and get your name called next year in Philly! Certificates and Master Webmaster plaques not picked up in Philly will be mailed. Congratulations to everyone, apologies if I've mis-spelled any names!

Ive had a couple of emails asking for info on what is evaluated for awards so I've copied the info from my March post for info -

first, each site linked to the AACA National site is evaluated by the AACA Internet Committee. The review is a year-long process that includes many site visits by committee members to evaluate them. Here are some of the areas we consider to be important:
- Functionality and ease of use
- Originality and creativity
- Presentation, graphics, design and appeal
- Content including a calendar of events, promotion of activities, promotion of AACA, articles, activity reports, photos, club info, etc.
- Timeliness of content and currency of info.
- Interest to the membership and prospective members.
- Value to the membership and prospective members.
- Is the Webmaster clearly identified and able to be contacted?
- Are the officers of the club identified and able to be contacted?

There needs to be a way to easily join, or to participate in activities, and it is important to have links to AACA, the Junior's Page, etc.

In short, a good web site mirrors a good newsletter. It must be current, active, and of considerable value in serving the membership, encouraging participation and must also serve as a recruiting tool for prospective members.

You don't need to register in advance to participate in the review process.

Everyone receiving an award of Excellence is also considered for the Master Web Master Award. Take the time to look at the many wonderful sites linked to the National AACA page and you'll get plenty of ideas.

A couple of additional thoughts, the best sites are very active, always current and help create a welcoming feeling that encourages participation and camraderie. A good web site should be much more than a "billboard" advertisement or a repository for your club history. Lastly, Id like to remind everyone that being able to contact representatives of your club is essential. We evaluated several sites during the year where contact was virtually impossible.

good luck in the coming year and thanks to all web masters for the hard work you do promoting your regions, chapters and AACA.

Thanks for the listing. Now the question I have is where do I get logo to use on our web site. Is it someplace on the AACA web site or do I contact Peter G to get a copy of the Award of Distinction.

Terry, Got a question for you. I know the judging process is a year long process but when to when is actually considered the year. Committee members possibly change in Feb. but I know you need some time before the annual meeting to determine the winners and get the awards. So is the year really more like Feb. to Dec. or something along that lines?

Thats about the time frame we have to work with. The bulk of the decisions are made by early Dec but there is ongoing discussion right up until near the end of the year. We need to stay on the schedule with National Awards and allow enough lead-time for Philly preparations. Most committees like Internet, newsletter, etc have some members who contiue into the next year (I've been involved for several years) so that provides continuity.
Let me know if I can be of any help.

Just wanted to say thank you to you and the Internet Committee for the award. Both came in the mail yesterday. It was for the Capitol City Chapter and the Central Chapter, both from Minnesota. Also thanks for including the award on a disk so it could be uploaded on the sites.

And thanks to all you hardworking webmasters who do such a great job keeping the membership informed and helping AACA to grow. Pat Buckley up at AACA HQ deserves the credit for coming up with the idea about providing the logo that you can use on the website. We used to send them out as paper clip-art, but hey, this is the age of technology!

I like the award being on a disk now! Much cleaner to directly load into the computer. Good idea.

I think it was a lot better then scanning it in. I added it to my news letter and I think it's better. Thanks for making it easy!
