Welcome to the Me and My Car Forum.

--Idea blatantly stolen from the "Me and My Buick" forum.--

This forum is for sharing photos and stories of your treasured vehicle, as well as photos of you and your family, your car?s living room (garage, barn, shop), etc.

SUGGESTION! PUT YOUR NAME AND CAR IN THE SUBJECT LINE! PLEASE!

Photos: (as originally posted by Centurian)

Many of you have expressed an interest in inserting photos into the text of your posts. For "Me and My Car", this is a great way to provide illustrations of your car to accompany your narrative.

Here's a step-by-step approach to inserting photos. I will edit these instructions to provide greater clarity as we go along. If Roberta thinks this would be helpful, we could make this a sticky.

1) Your photos must first be posted to the Internet before they can be inserted into the text of your post. I have typically used the "Collectible Automobile Photo Post" feature of this forum for this purpose. Click on the Photo Post link on the upper left portion of your screen, and follow the step-by-step process of uploading your photos. Your photos should be saved on your computer's hard drive in the common .jpg (jpeg) file format. The forum administrator must approve your images before they actually appear on the Photo Post galleries, so it's important to be patient for the photos to be approved.

2) Once your photos have been uploaded to the Internet, compose your new post on the forum. When you are ready to insert a photo into your text, open a second browser window that displays the photo you wish to insert.

3) Open the browser window that contains your photo. Click on the photo with your right mouse key, then left click on properties. A "Properties" box will appear, including a line that is labeled "Address" with "URL" below it.

Using your left mouse key, highlight the address, which will look something like this:

http://www.electra225.com/owners/Brian-Laurance-59/SM-TOP-59buick.jpg

Once the address is highlighted, right click on the address, then left click on "Copy".

4) Re-open the "Collectible Auto Discussion Forum" window, and click the "Image" button under "Instant UBB Code". (This is one of the features that appears right below the window where you are composing your post.) A box will appear in the upper left portion of your screen.

Position your cursor inside the box, then right click. Left click on "Paste", and the address you copied for your picture should display in the box. Click okay, and you will see in the text of your post something like this:

Once you've completed your text, and are ready to finalize your post, click "Continue" as usual. When you preview your message, your photos should display.

This is easier than it sounds! Once you've done this a few times, you will find that you can add photos in seconds. Please make certain that your photo is not too large when it displays. This can be distracting for people reading your post, who will need to scroll from side-to-side to read your text.

Peter

Does the above explanation of posting procedures apply to the new Photopost program? I am having a hard time trying to submit 12 photgraphs w/ accompanying text to "Me and My Car"
