Thanks Ron, I'll check out the brakes tomorrow. Sorry to sound confusing but when I'm in drive and the car is shifting to lower gears it jerks a little.
It also started(as of maybe 4 hours ago)making a strange noise when idling. It sounds

The dimensions for each body type and chassis are given in at least two places, the Salesman's Data Book, and the Specifications provided in the 1st issue Service Letter for each year.

In 1977 or probably 1978 a Buick Regal was pace car at Indianapolis and the turbocharger was added to the V-6 so it would accelerate from 90 to 120 mph quickly coming out of the the first turn, allowing the race cars literally to get up to speed. It

Yes, this is an 1850's barn. Can't say what was stored in it ages ago but the place has been resided, re-roofed, and made as weather tight as an 1850's barn can be.

My local bolt-house (Mid States Bolt and Screw) had similar bolts and washers for the engine cradle mounts, so I'll have fresh hardware for that.
The cradle mounts are still on their way from gmpartsdirect.com.

Simply I don't know what to say. Doing a complete paint job takes some experience. I wouldn't suggest doing a neat old car like that for your first body job.
I've never used hydrochloric acid. My guess would be that you need to wash it off
