Back in the late 70's, before the 78 turbo-charged engine hit the market place, one of my business aquaintances had a son who was a Buick engine designer or engineer, and I was allowed to guess that turbo-charging was on it's way.

72 was the first year of what I called the "polution pump" a major upgrade/degrade from the former pcv valve.

I disagree. If an AACA judge isnt "into Buicks as heavily as you are to spot the changes" they are LESS apt to deduct points, not more.

It is mounted right on top of the generator directly below the air cleaner on the right side (passenger) of the engine. It is basically a voltage regulator.

Honest to God Peter, I just wanted to create discussion, I know of no one that has lost a point because of a oil filter. I chose filters because it is a possable 2 point deduction. I must admit I lost at least one point last year for (I think) a fuel

Interesting Dave, If they are a visable change that looks different from a stock in the showroom car AACA would deduct points on the show field. But the judges would have to be into Buicks as heavily as you are to spot the changes.

I'm always amazed at the tangents a thread can take.

As an AACA Judge and having been Chief Judge a few times I think I can fairly say that the chances of someone judging a car down is virtually zero because of the size of their oil filte

I couldn't find roadster rear panels so I got my hands on a 70 coupe body less roof. I would like to find out the door width on a 72 convertible coupe so I can work out how to make it all fit.
