I have an interchange manual but it lists the cars by model numbers not names. I'm not familiar with a 42 Century, what model is that (40, 50, etc.) Also need to know front of rear.

There is typically a wiring diagram in the shop manual, although I can't be certain for the year. EBay or Ken McGee Auto Literature would be good places to look.

My Ford 6-volt sending unit has contacts with a bi-metal strip. It is impossible to say any ohm value because it makes and breaks with current. More gas, pushes the contacts tighter. Empty tank means contacts are totally apart.

The roof is galvanized not stainless. Prep instructions state scrubbing the roof with a water and TSP (Trisodium Phosphate) solution, rinse it well, and, let dry.
