The complete history of Ed Macauley's Phantom was published in the Packard Club's magazine "The Packard Cormorant" #123, Summer 2006 issue. The car was destroyed in the early 1950s.

I am helping my dad restore a 24l DB touring. The car is almost completely restored, but we have a question about the carb and choke. We notice the engine only wants run with the choke partly closed with the choke knob partly pulled out. I was loo

Regarding the interfacing of the electronics for the ABS, I have a thought here, and someone please correct me if I am wrong: The ABS system isn't that tightly integrated into the vehicle electronics from what I can tell. Meaning that the BRAKE and

I got my answer by accident. It turns out that when I removed the old bulb, I had deformed the socket enough that it was not making complete contact. I little gentle persuasion with water pump pliers and it works great. Ed

Well, both the steering column jacket and gearshift rod are different part numbers. Of course that doesn't mean that one won't fit the other but it does make it less likely. Keep in mind that the 40 Special was the end of a particular body run of sev

I would try a few things. First, with the engine off and the battery connected, momentarily hook a thick jumper wire from the BAT to the GEN or ARM terminal on the regulator to polarize the generator. Next check all grounds. Start it up and see wh

The handle has a "C" spring with ears, on the underside. In fact, window cranks AND door handles have the same setup. You should simply slide the tool under the back, and catch the ends of the "C". When you do, keep pushing str

Yes, ethanol is ethel alcohol. Ethel alcohol is made from plant material, it is whiskey or grain alcohol (moonshine). That which used for anything other than whiskey has additives making it undrinkable (isopropyl and denatured). Methanol is methel

Looks like we have a group of aftermarket hubcaps on the loose! These look like Lyons (Lions) replacement hubcaps. The louvers are neat and reminescent of the Dodge cap from 54 with a v8, not often seen but occasionally show up. Great item to hang on

This looks like a Lyons (Lions) aftermarket hubcap from the early 50's. These were installed by dealers or sold in the aftermarket to dress up the small hubcap cars. Much like we did with wirewheel hubcaps in the past. My vote is definitely NOT DeSot
