I just installed pertronix electronic ignition system so I have no points to look at to see when they are just breaking.
I have timing light and it shows 35 deg. advance at Idle with spark lever down (retarded) and using the mark "1" on flywheel. I find no place that shows the proper advance.
Can someone help? It seems to run great but I just want to be sure..

I've heard there is no way to time the engine other than by empirical testing.

A posting of a good timing method was recently done again on this forum. It gives a good step-by-step process for setting the timing.

If anyone knows of timing marks or something else, I would like to hear about it also.

Well, on my 25 there is timing marks on the flywheel. I have installed a pertronix electronic ignition and so there is no points so I have no way of knowing when they would open. I am running it and I have timed it by the way it pulls and sounds.. probly close enuf..

I believe the C 1-4 mark means top dead center on cyl. 1 & 4 and the next mark I I think is Ignition or when the points if I had some would just break with the spark retarded fully..
But I could be wrong..
One must have plug 1 out and put your thumb over it so that there is pressure on your thumb and you will be on the right revolution for timing as it only sparks on the compression stroke..
