Mike ,the running board brackets are all the same on all those years of the 30s. Your 1938s look the same as the ones on my '35 KCL 1/2 ton. I suspect the only difference in them was their dimensions so I wouldn't keep your search to just '38. If you have the measurements I would look around at other years and use the measurements as your guide. I even suspect that car brackets are the same. And yes they were riveted to the frame cheeks but unless you are restoring your truck for judging meets ,I would just bolt them on.

DodgeKCL, I do not have the measurements, but i might get estimated measurements from my truck.

I do believe that 1938 1/2 ton has different brackets.(the lower "bolt/rivet" is bolted under side of the frame, not side-"bolted"..

Here's the pics of the ones I have.

the dimension of this L-shaped part is ->
I took measurements from the half of the upper bolt hole(not visible in pictures) to the upper side of the "longer part that's against running board" that's 4,92 inches.
(these brackets have 8 holes, because they are home made)

The upper side of the part that against running board is 14,17 inches long.

remember these are home made , not the original parts and are app. dimensions. Not the exact.
