This looks like some sort of dash light. Anybody know what it is for?

The pictures are of a general purpose panel mounted pilot lamp assembly, as used in electrical devices and equipment, from the 1930s thru the early 1950s. It is very unlikely that the lamp assembly pictured was ever used in an automobile.
