I know lots of you guys use Rock Auto. They sent this to my email address. Check it out:

Your discount code is:

11695121016489

Using Your Discount Code
Enter the code above in the "How did you hear about us" line of the shopping cart. If you are using our traditional HTML catalog, please click the "Apply" button to the right of the field. Your discount will automatically appear, subtracted from your order total.

The discount takes 5% off our already-low prices. There's no limit on order size or the number of orders. Use the code for your next order, and share the code with friends, neighbors, relatives, the guy at the corner garage--anyone you know who works on cars or trucks.

This discount code expires on October 19, 2008; so don't wait!

Tried it; gave me the discount (about $2) but the nearly $10 in shipping costs cancelled out the price difference of buying it locally on a $50 item.

$10 shipping for a set of valve cover gaskets that probably weigh less than 10 ounces????

Rockauto.com isn't a participating site, but many of these discount codes can be found at Currentcodes.com. For instance J.C. Whitney's web site has codes currently for free shipping on orders over $75.

WOW, Dave. That beats my deal. I'm saving currentcodes to my favorites. Thanks.

I never thought about the discount negating 'free shipping', Reatta Man. Some of those places have a minumum shipping charge.

Dennis Carpenter was going to charge me $16 to ship a few rubber mirror pads, two plastic emblems, and five little 1-1/2" aluminum (Crestline) seat plates. They calculate shipping charges based on order value. The whole order weighed under eight ounces (so they called it a pound). I KNEW this would happen, so I put a 'hold' on the order until they could give me a total. After much negotiation, I still had to pay the $8 minimum shipping charge.
