I copy my post from the for sale section to here so it doesn't get lost in the for sale area.

I will need to purchase some new drip/gutter molding because I decided yesterday to take mine off do to rust that is under the molding.

I read the post where one can buy them but I am curious how these go do together. http://www.lebaronbonney.com/osc/catalog...=7&y=11. The pieces I took off my car had the flip over edge to cover the nail holes.

When I go to install the new piece how do I go about making the downward bend at the end of the rail (above rear of doors). It seems one can kink it if not done right.

Should I reinstall these after or before paint?

Yes, it's impossible to slip the outer-gutter over the inner-mounting strip at corners and downward bends at rear. The gutter is very soft aluminum and the curves can be bent by hand with no problem.
To hold the gutter down at curves, drill small holes (with dremel tool) in inner wall of gutter and use long, small diameter nails to hold it. The nail heads can be sealed and painted and become almost invisible if you are careful not to damage the soft gutter when driving in the nails. Two nails per curve is enough, if they are in tight.
I tried other methods (such as small screws) and nails were the best way (hold best and look best).

Rick,

What baffles me is how they made the bends with the flip over cover type that I just took off?

Do you think they may have used some heat or a special tool?

Yes, I think it would take a special tool, to first spread the gutters groove and then re-crimp it around the mounting strip, without damaging it.

The gutters should be painted with primer and at least one top-coat after shaping but before installing, to get plenty of paint in and around it. That way, when painting final coats on body (and gutter) you won't have to worry about getting enough paint down in gutter and possibly overspray that area.
