I sure hope this got your attention! The AACA Library & Research Center along with the club and the AACA Museum will have an unprecedented auction of custom designed pedal cars during RM's auction on Friday night during the fall meet in Hershey. This is no small deal!
12 of the finest craftsman, restoration shops and designers in the US have taken a Champion comet pedal car and have transformed it into their vision. I am attaching a picture of one in progress. I am sure you will all figure out what it is going to be! However, others are building a Cadillac, Oldsmobile Fiesta, Jaguar, Duesenberg, street rod, french styled "Pebble Beach" type, etc. The investment that these great, great folks are making in this project is nothing short of unreal. All the proceeds will go the the 3 AACA entities!! The pedal cars will be featured in RM's catalog along with our website and numerous publications.
The interesting thing was that there was NO arm twisting of these people. They all did it to support us and seem to be having fun with it despite the fact that it is ocurring during their busiest time of the year. The 14 participants are:
Advanced Auto Technologies General Motors Dale Adams Enterprises Posies Special Interest Vehicles Antique Auto Shop Al Pruiett & Sons Paintworks Hill's Automotive Automotive Restorations Fran Roxas D&D Classic Automobile Restorations and the world famous Westley Peterson Coachworks
We even had to turn down a couple of folks. I do want to mention that Rick Hoover was one of the first persons to agree to do one with my help but we backed out to let another guy who really wanted in. West was adamant that he could do a better job than any of these guys so we let him stay in as well! Well, ok he didn't quite say that but he certainly has a daunting task to keep up with the big boys!
Stay tuned, this will be fun!

Time to leak a few photos of our car... A fully hand-shaped metal body. No bondo here! This gives an idea of what the car will look like when it's done. The bumpers and trim are getting plated as I type this, and painting comes tomorrow - just in time for Meadowbrook! Speaking of those bumpers, those are all sheet metal. We created hammerforms for each piece you see there. Enjoy! Hope to see you all this weekend!

Thinking of next year. How does a shop become involved with this program?

Talk with Steve. We already have several shops wanting to get involved. I'm hoping we get started a little earlier for next year to allow shops the opportunity to work on their cars during off-peek months. This year the pedal cars were being worked on at the same time big cars were being finished up for major shows across the country. An extra-special thanks to the shops that took time out of their extremely busy and hectic schedules to do this for AACA!!!

That SSJ is going to be spectacular. I especially like how in the photo it's posed in front of the Throne Car chassis.
Biggest Duesy, and littlest Duesy!

The last of the special built pedal cars will be going up for sale at the RM Auctions in Scottsdale in January. Built by the renown restorer Fran Roxas, this "Dusey" is truly is another work of art.
