Back in the 50's the Citroen dealer in Winnipeg drove his "DS" around for week with no rear wheels. He had an equalizer hitch with a twenty foot travel trailer attached. Boy talk about a head turner. I have enjoyed the opportunity to drive a series 11 Packhard, a Silver Ghost new Cadillacs and Chevs each and every year since 1959 as well as the cars I have owned. First choice for pleasure would be a "DS", second choice would be my sons Porsche 944 and then I can't decide how to rate the rest.

Nice the emotion with the DS, Tinindian! I love seeing all the reactions to this car, very funny to see each of you have a beautifull story about it. Still, for us the DS is for pleasure for sure! Ofcourse it needs maintenance, but driving it is still worth her name, the Goddess (déesse in French). Although with the gas prices down here, the fun is a bit spoiled. We pay 1.65 € per liter gas. I hope to be able to drive my antique cars in the future, this worries more owners over here. With SUV's and pickup trucks they want to forbid them going in the big cities, like Amsterdam, reason they pollute (more)?! But is it really only motor traffic which causes this? I really think someting has to be done, but we have to find solutions for keeping our antique car Museum roling, too many people have so much joy by driving/keeping the cars. This shouldn't go to waste!!!

13 pages and no one mentioned the "Levis" denim interior option you could get on AMC products (the Gremlin in particular) in the 1970s?
Some will claim the Gremlin itself to be goofy looking, but they managed to sell the Gremlin and Hornet body shell with some name changes from 1970 right up to the end in 1987.
I've parted out a '58 Buick. I think just removing the chrome will take 1000 lbs off the car. Then you have the trunk which unlike most cars has two layers of steel between the wheel arch and the rear of the car... makes me wonder how one would hold up in a demo derby.
The other goofy thing I've seen are these Donks with giant wheels and rubberband tires - some of them sit like monster trucks with 36" wheels on them. And the car on top is like a 1980 Pontiac Bonneville 4dr. with some gold plated trim added.
Another goofy thing are those wheels with the spinner centers that keep rotating even when you stop.

The dumbest looking car was the Cevy Vega. At 50,000 miles the engine was toast, but that didn't matter, because the car was already on its second set of rusted out fenders, and the bottom of the rest of the car was rusted out, and there where big rust blotches all over the car where the paint had fallen off. My generation caught on real quick that General Motors had lost all ability to build automobiles, and we never bought from them again.
Then there were all the dumb looking Fords broken down on the side of I-10 in the 80's and 90's- turned out they couldnt handle hot weather. Then Ford had a better idea, lights that just snapped on. The kids would walk by a Ford and pop the lights off in seconds, and you could buy them back on Saturday at the local flea market. When high school drop outs are smarter then Michigan MBA's, you know there is a problem, but hey, they looked good on the football field.

Is this perhaps dumb looking? Or one of them at least? No need to explain the tow car, but the one behind it? Give it a try!

The car is a DAF Daffodil, a cute little Dutch car with variations produced from '61-76. Why they just didn't load it in the bed of the tow vehicle is beyond me. It's certainly no DUMBER looking than this '62 Fleetwood 75 captured on the grounds of the Queen Mary. Funny, I'd never heard of the Eddie Bauer Edition Fleetwood before. TG

Thanks for looking TG!
Besides calling this German, you're right, it is a 1965 Daf model Daffodil 32. But please don't call it German!!! This is an original Dutch design with a Dutch (vanDoorne)variomatic transmission, the solution for older people who didn't like the clutch (or the clutch them). A small car which was very common on the Dutch roads in the sixties and seventies. Many people enjoyed it very much. Van Doorne is still building transmissions. p.s. we didn't finish loading the bed yet!

Carine, I'm getting a bit too old for a trans-oceanic relationship... maybe when this picture was taken 15 years ago I could have handled it! It's the only car I have that gets awesome mileage... TG

Hi TG!
You see I'm surrounded by my favorite ones (cars!). One more or less doesn't work so good with the warmblodded figures! Nice talking to you anyway. The passion for cars is satisfying enough for us!

Hi TG!
Lately you were talking about German cars, here some photos from a German DKW model SP from 1964, which looks a little like a Tbird! You will probably have seen one, but for those who didn't! Have fun with it

The last of the special built pedal cars will be going up for sale at the RM Auctions in Scottsdale in January. Built by the renown restorer Fran Roxas, this "Dusey" is truly is another work of art.
