I recently bought a basket case '40 pontiac coupe. The previous owner couldn't find the appropriate front sheetmetal to finish the car, so he started grafting on '40 chevy sheetmetal. That includes cutting up the firewall and adding pieces of a '40 chevy firewall.

After some consideration I have decided to abandon his idea and start rebuilding it with pontiac sheetmetal.

My cowl tag says 2627, so I assume I have a B-body coupe. The tag is detached, so I need to absolutely verify that it is indeed a b-body. How can I tell? The frame has been clipped so the wheelbase may be off.. (I'm going to unclip it too)

I have found some front ends for sale, but I'm not sure what models they are for and not sure how to tell the differences.

Can anyone please point out the differences in front sheetmetal between a,b,and C bodied cars?

thanks,
george
