Wish I could answer this and help but I don't think I fully understand the problem. Are the wipers binding, or are the transmission cables falling off the wiper posts inside the car?
A long time ago I did lubricate the wipers on my 56 from outside the car by just dribbling some pb blaster on top of the posts and letting it run in, then running the wipers. I don't know if this will help.
