Hi guys,
I want to replace the dipstick on my 455 engine, since it does not fit properly anymore. I bought it this way and it really bothers me.
On Ebay, I see lots of dispticks for sale for a 455 engine, but they are all for Olds or Pontiac.
Can I bid on one of these and will it fit right then? Since these 455 engines do have some differences, I wonder if it would fit on my block.
Thanks in advance!
Eelco

Dipsticks are stamped with part numbers - get the vendor to verify the part is correct for your '70 455 before you bid on it. Does someone have the correct '70 455 part number ?

Part # 1230489 When you state:I want to replace the dipstick on my 455 engine, since it does not fit properly anymore. I bought it this way and it really bothers me. What do you mean by fit properly??? Loose??? You can take a wide flat blade screwdriver and bend out the tangs or are they missing? Thnx, will send him a mail.
It does not fit properly anymore saying that it sits just loose ans moves around when the engine is running. Somehow little metal thingy is gone that provides a snug fit.
