Went to the American Independent's Day Car Display in sydney today which was held in the grounds of Linnwood House which is an historic 2 storey house situated in the outer urban area of Sydney.

The event attracted a good crowd of on-lookers and a cross-section of the vehicles representing the Independent American car manufacturers such as Hudson, Rambler-AMC, Studebaker, Packard, Willys, Essex and the rarely seen (in Australia anyways!!) Cord. Some really nice vehicles on display inlcuding a 1911 ??? Essex tourer and the Cord coupe which looks stunning !!!

There are pics of the day on the carsofaustralia website. Link: http://www.carsofaustralia.com.au/events_gallery.php?details=164

MuscleCarBoy,

I missed the Cord coupe. might have gone by the time I got around to taking my pic's. There was the green Auburn though and these are almost as rare.

And here are some more pic's from Linnwood House, see attached link to my Picasa web album. All pic's are captioned, if I've made a mistake forgive me please.

Thanks for sharing those wonderful pictures. The Packard Hawk caption is not a real 58 Packard Hawk, but a radically customized 62-64 Studebaker GT Hawk.

Barry,

Here's some background about the day at Linnwood House for independent car makes, ie not the big 3.

The American Independent’s Day Car Display was organized by the Hudson-A.M.C Car Club of Australia Inc, other participating clubs included PACA, Studebaker and Willys. Proceeds from entry fees went to the Friends of Linnwood as an official fundraiser for Youth off the Streets. Activities and attractions for the day included the Holroyd City Council Brass Band, NSW Coca Cola Collectors Club, The Traditional Tools Group Inc, Trocadero Rock & Roll Dance Troupe, Arts and Crafts and other stalls. All in all, quite a diverse range of offerings with something for everyone. Another feature was a request by the organisers to add some colour to the day & dress in the period of your car.
