Tell me how you did that Tom? Did you put pictures up behind your models?

Hi Wayne,

Yes, first, I scanned in some images from old Better Homes & Gardens mags, printed them out on matte brochure paper, and placed the models right in front of the pix. I'm still working on the scale issue; that dog is bigger than the jukebox!

Here are a few more from today with a new, simple base made of charcoal gray matte board,
painted balsa curbing, and fine-grain hobby shop sand for that "gritty, urban look."

Conquest 1954 Olds 98 Starfire

Buby/CC 1956 DeSoto Fireflite Sportsman

Mini-Marque 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Sunliner

Here's all you need. The reflector is foamcore with spray-mounted Reynolds Wrap, on a stand (light weight & adjustable) made of coat hangers. I shoot these on a tripod with a 55-200MM zoom lens to compress everything.

Buby/CC 1955 Chevy BelAir

Happy experimenting!

TG, I'm impressed. Some day I have to meet you, but I am thinking that you have a lot more free time on your hands than I do....

Matt,

We'll try to hook up the next time I'm in Whiteville...we need to scout out some more cool gas stations!

You may be right about my time, like what I did today...

This is the finest home in my town, built in the late-'20's by a leading textile family in the Cotswold style. Naturally, the Garage fascinates me most, so I ran over there today to get an establishing shot. It was an overcast, gray day, with lots of diffused light, perfect for what I needed. One bay has a turntable in it.

Brumm #88, 1939 Bugatti Type 57S Atalante Coupe

USA Models #1, 1958 Cadillac Fleetwood 75 Limo

These are the types of cars one would expect to have lived there over the years,
except these are all 1/43rd scale models.

Happy Sunday!

TG,

That is some amazing photographing you are doing there. Them last ones are outstanding. The cars look almost real.

Nice Work. Keep-um coming

What a great idea! Very nicely done, too. Another good source of house pictures are the plan books that show up on eBay from time to time, and usually aren't too pricey to purchase.

John,

It looks like it's ready for take-off at any moment! Very cool.

Here's some more. I really like this style, having grown up in the 60s.

John,

Thanks for the inspiration; that '57 Roadmaster image at the GM Tech Center is one of my favorites
(even though it has Super headlight bezels). And that kitchen is straight out of the Jetsonian School of Design!

You might remember some of these evolutionary FoMoCo products...

1952 Lincoln Capri, Precision Models #Special Build

1955 Mercury Montclair, Design Studio #10C

Ditto

1955 Mercury Montclair, Design Studio #10H

1956 Continental Mark II, Brooklin #11

1953 Ford F-100 Pickup with Wurlitzer Jukebox, Durham Model

All good deeds should be rewarded!

Love the mid-century modern style! Neat idea. Could you do the same thing with pictures or post cards??
