I'm thinking of getting a set of these to move inoperable cars around in my garage: www.tireskate.com Does anyone have any experience with these? I'd like to know how well they really work before spending the $.

Thanks, that is what I was hoping to hear. Did you get the 8" wide or 12" wide version? Do the tires sit firmly on the depressed center when you are moving the car? I wondered if the large diameter tires on a prewar car might be more stable on their deep version which is longer and has a 1" deeper well.

I just got the 8" wide ones. The 12" wide are for cars with wide tires, like later Corvettes, muscle cars, and stuff like that. The tires do sit firmly in the depressed center. I used them for my Model T and Model A.

Barry,
Wow! If they work for that monster my little car will be a snap. Are yours Tireskate brand? They look like the deeper version.

They're the big ones. Rated at 3,000# ea. I'm not sure what brand they were. I'll look and see. It's more about the rollers than anything else. Some are sleeve bearings and have trouble with a heavier car. You've got to ask the right questions. Make sure they're fitted with grease fitting, too.

Barry, Looks right. Tireskate has a big comparison of their casters versus cheaper competition on their website, indicating that's why they are more expensive. Seems well worth it.

The last of the special built pedal cars will be going up for sale at the RM Auctions in Scottsdale in January. Built by the renown restorer Fran Roxas, this "Dusey" is truly is another work of art.
