I loosened the nut on underside of hood, but the ornament seems solidly stuck onto the hood. Is this normal? Is there a gasket, stickey tape, or something between the ornament and the hood? I don't want to damage the hood paint.

It has very sticky tape. I did not know this when I tried to remove mine. I removed the nut and applied pressure (ok a lot of pressure) to the stud and started cracking the orange finished surface of the ornament. Maybe someone has a trick for removing it.

When ever I debadge anything I use dental floss and saw it back and forth. Clean up with acetone or Goo Be Gone.

Mint works better than cinnamon.

Roberts's way should work....and Jon's suggestion is also helpful....

Ask Jim Finn as well...he instructed me on how to remove mine when I did the Big Squirt....a heat gun is incorporated...(VERY Carefully, and from the underside of the hood....but let him explain please).

As far as the red paint...ask Jim as well....straight enamel reducer "MAY" not hurt the badge...

yep I destroyed one by tapping from the underside, use dental floss and lots of patience. It takes a while. anything less and it will break

EBDSO is correct.

I use fishing line when I have to remove stuck on (double sided tape) molding or emblems. Nut I guess floss would work as well.
