Hi, I recently purchased this 1970 98 olds convertible at an estate auction. My question is how does the top supposed to work? When I try to put the top down it gets to the point where the rear window starts to go into the package area and stops. At this point you can hear the top material and motor straining. The rear window does not unzip. (Every convertible I have owned in the past had a zippable rear window. Is this normal on this model or has someone changed it?
The car has been garaged for 10 years. Could the linkage in the top be frozen? Any help out there would be appreciated.

Hi, I haven't checked the fluid. I'll check the the fluid but I feel the problem is with the rear window because it gets real taught and sounds like the fabric is starting to tear. That's why I was wondering if some one had modified the window or the linkage was frozen. Thanks, Archie
