You're right Jeff. They don't melt in the rain, but they sometimes DO leak!
In 1997 we drove our 1947 Continental over 200 miles through a torrential Texas rainstorm to the LCOC meet in League City Texas. On the way, the linkage to the left windshield wiper fell off and made driving quite intersting, to say the least!
We had the ONLY 1947 Continental registered in the 50th anniversary meet, but were 10 minutes late to the meet (which was held in a cave-like parking structure) and were refused admittance by the chief judge (from California - where it NEVER rains as hard as it does in Texas). I don't register any cars in LCOC meets any more.
