You're right Jeff. They don't melt in the rain, but they sometimes DO leak!

In 1997 we drove our 1947 Continental over 200 miles through a torrential Texas rainstorm to the LCOC meet in League City Texas. On the way, the linkage to the left windshield wiper fell off and made driving quite intersting, to say the least!

We had the ONLY 1947 Continental registered in the 50th anniversary meet, but were 10 minutes late to the meet (which was held in a cave-like parking structure) and were refused admittance by the chief judge (from California - where it NEVER rains as hard as it does in Texas). I don't register any cars in LCOC meets any more.

We still have the car. I drove it into our barn in 1997 and it's currently "retired".

It was raining hard a couple of weeks ago the morning of the LOC/LZOC National Meet in Lincoln, NH and as one woke up the morning of show day just from the sounds of the rain everyone just knew that the schedule would be adjusted to meet the reality of the weather, and of the day. It was adjusted from 8:59 AM to 11:00 AM.

We,my wife and I drove up from Beverly, Ma. friday morning it started raining when we got to Rt 93 20 minutes into the 2 1/2 hour ride. The Lincoln started leaking 10 minutes after the rain started. Being as stuborn as I am I just pushed on. We stopped once to buy some towels but had to settle for a roll of paper towels. The Lincoln performed without any problems. It was the furthest that I've driven it since I've owned it (27yrs). The ride home in the sun was far more enjoyable. I'll have to fix the leaks next. George.
