Hi,
I want to do a body off the frame restoration on a 31 Chrysler roadster. Has someone here been thru this that would give me some pointers, such as, where all the bolts are that attach it to the frame.etc. I have the engine out for rebuild.I don't want to screw it up.
Thanks,
john Baker

John-if you crawl under the car with a good light you'll be able to see all the body securing bolts coming down through the top of the frame rail or frame outriggers brackets. Getting the nuts loose may be your biggest problem. I use an oxy acetylene torch and heat the nuts to almost red hot and they usually come loose with no problem. Do not let the heated nuts drop into your hand.
On my last major restoration I did not remove the body from the chassis but lifted it up and placed on 4" blocks, had the body underside and chassis blasted, and repainted all. Then lowered the body down and reshimmed to get a good door fit.
This car just garnered a Grand national award in Florida in March. So you may not need to drag that body off the chassis.
