Just out of 37 year storage . Beautiful body style. near 100% complete, left hand drive , serial #40 of just over 200 made. Came 18th at le Mans first time out in 1958! Engine turns with compression, overdrive and wire wheels, frame is excellent and solid, great candidate for restoration. Easy to work with fiberglass body. Many spare racing engine parts etc. Canadian title, asking $10,000. or motorcycle trades .call 1-613-273-5036

What kind of engine and drive train does the Peerless have? Was it borrowed from another make or something they created? Can you post (or send me photos of the interior and the engine compartment) more photos.

My email is pai01@aol.com

Thanks.........Paul

It would have been a Triumph four-cylinder from a TR-3, originally.

I realized after I posted the advert judging from the number of hits that most in the AACA would have thought 1959 was a typo. Let me give a brief explanation. The name Peerless was adopted by the London England company for their new car as a way of honouring the factory in which it was produced, the original home of WW1 Peerless American trucks in England! The modern era Peerless was designed as an inexpensive GT ( Grand Touring) sports car. There is a club in England and they have a website associated with Tr3's as they used the TR3 engine and overdrive tranny. They diverged however with a tube frame, fibreglass body and de Dion rear axle.

Hello Peerless GT owner. I have a 1958 GT that I am restoring, there were about 250 GT's built and 50 with left hand drive that were brought to the USA. The drive train is Triumph, however several owners pulled the 4 cylinder engine and put small block V-8's in and raced them. There is a couple of problems they had, the tube frames could rust through and there is a 19 gallon fuel tank under each door sil with no protection. And of course the Prince of Darkness Lucas electrical system. Other than that they are a neat car.
