The weather seal on my '47 appears to be in very good condition and was obviously recently replaced. However, there is a good 1/8 inch gap between the rear edge of the windows and the B-pillar making the wind noise a real headache when driving at speed. And if I got caught in the rain, my passenger and I would be soaked.

Also, there does not appear to be any kind of seal on the bottom of the door where it would meet up with the sill plates when the doors were closed (please see pictures).

Question #1 - do I adjust the doors to close up the gap (seems unlikely given the size of the gap) or is the seal installed incorrectly?

Question #2 - I'm assuming that there should be a seal that runs along the bottom of the door. Is my assumption correct?

Looks like the top of the window frame has excess space and the bottom of the frame is close fitting. This is adjustable. You may have to move the top of the vent window assembly back at the top to achieve this.

Yes there is a seal at the bottom of the door trim panel that meets the sill plate. The rubber seal is held in place by the trim panel bottom clips. The seal has a cross section not unlike a comma (,). I made mine from the seals on an early 70's GM two door Chevelle, regal, cutlass or grand prix. The doors on these cars are about 2' longer than the Continental. Trim the excess from the tail of the comma cross section so that it is about 2" - 3" and punch 1/4" holes to match the clips on the trim panel. The round part of the comma shaped seal should be flush with the bottom of the trim panel and the entire tail of the comma should be under the panel out of sight.

Junk yard cost should be about $5 - $10 versus $40 - $50 or more for a reproduction plus you have the pleasure of looking at old cars in the junkyard.
