Has anyone had any experience with companies that do the vacuum plating on plastic parts? I have four center hubcaps approximately 4 inches in diameter from my 63 Avanti wire wheels that I would like to get replated. About a year ago a company gave a quote of $65 each. I thought that was a bit high. Any suggestions?

Other than finding NOS centers or shopping to different platers I don't think you have any options. Actually that sounds reasonable to me. If they were metal to be rechromed I'd estimate they would be in the $150-200 apiece range..........Bob

Hello Curti:

I have recently shipped 'chromed plastic' headlamp & tail lamp bezels to
CV Vacuum Platers to be 're-plated'. Although I don't yet have the restored parts, I was impressed with their
responses to my questions. It appears they know their trade...

Each bezel will cost about $125 to be stripped, prepped & 're-plated'. It not cheap
but I anticipate high quality work. Check out their informative web site.

They prefer to restore OEM parts because of their superiority to some reproduction items. You may wish to send
images & discuss your needs before shipping the parts.

Good Luck,

Paul

I recieved a quote back from CV Vacuum Platers of $20 - $25 each. They have a minimum shop charge of $100, so it will be that plus shipping. Thanks for the help!
