Greetings Buick enthused,
It's time to insure our recently acquired 9500 mile original 1960 4411. I am hoping for some help in regards to establishing value. I could have it "professionally" appraised, but truly, you folks are the experts. It is a genuine 9500 mile original 2dr post, equipped with a/t, clock, and wonderbar. It's white with red & black interior. On a scale of 1-10 (one being a parts car) it's a solid 9.0. Not meaning to hold anyone's feet to the fire - ballpark is fine. Thank you all in advance.

Lets start with the basics, Production number: 14,388 per the Standard Catalog of Buicks. Being a 1960, who knows how many are left, but as a Lesabre lets say maybe 1/4 of them leading to a potentially rare car.

Next the NADA Classic car price guide (on-line) says:
Original MSRP: $2,915
Low Retail Average Retail Value High Retail
Base Price $8,050 $15,500 $25,700

For insurance purposes on a 9.0 car I'd average the Average Retail and High Retail for $20K.

Hows that strike ya?

Surely you're gonna post a picture for all of us "experts" to use in appraising the value of this obviously rare and valuable auto. I think the key word here is "insurance". I would hesitate to give my opinion of value if you were asking for the purpose of establishing a price for possible sale.

here are my thoughts. This 4411 is a LeSabre model correct. It is a relatively rare car being a post model, but may not be recognized as more valuable as such. I am always willing to pay much more for an original low mileage car than for something restored of the same make & model. For insurance purposes I am going to throw out a figure in the range of 20-24,000. I have a 13,000 mile 4 door Roadmaster that I would not even consider insuring for less than 22,000.
I am sure there are more folks on here that know more abut this year than I so I will close and hopefully they will not be any more shy than I in giving their thoughts.
NOW LETS SEE SOME PICTURES DOWN IN ME AND MY BUICK!!! smile cool

I had a 8000 mile 69 Electra and had a hard time insuring it. Hagerty finally let me insure it for the Old Car Price Guide #1 condition value after many pict were sent. I had several companies decline coverage.

I would estimate less that 10% of original production still exist almost 50 years later.

Hey,

I'd like to see a photo just for the EYE CANDY value!

As for what it is worth, often people will say it is worth what someone is willing to pay for it today. However, in an economic slowdown, that may not be true.

So another good rule of thumb might be what it would cost to replace it. Can you find another Buick in similar condition with ultra-low mileage that is for sale?

That might give you some idea.

I have to agree with everyone here and add an additional comment about its worth: It is original only once--how valuable is that.
