I've had my '69 for a dozen years now and am trying to find out what it's worth if I was to sell it. It's pretty much all stock, with the original motor rebuilt 35,000 miles ago.

I guess you would call it a 20footer. Runs well.

Thanks for any/all comments.

Jim

Jim, your '69 is virtually the same as my '68 on the Manheim Gold value guide. Take the guide with a grain of salt. I am not sure I have seen a $34,000 Cutlass that was not a 442. Most of these cars are drivers that go in the low teens for average cars, higher teens for a nice driver. Try posting in the "oldsmobile" section - those guys are pretty active; you should get some additional comments and maybe a buyer!

Don't happen to have an extra set of wheelwell moldings, do you? smile

For your own piece of mind, and for insurance purposes, it would pay you to have it appraised through I-VAN. I can't remember the acronym, but for some reason I wand to say that I-VAN stands for International Vehicle Appraiser's Network (or something to that effect). These people are very well trained and can give you an honest or fair appraisal better than any of us can.

These guides all differ somewhat, but I would consider fair as together but possibly needing some mechanical work to be driveable and some body or cosmetic work, probably not what you would consider a "driver", or a driver needing cosmetics all around. Good would be solid mechanically, structurally and cosmetically, none of those areas are necesarilly perfect, but the car is dependable and presentable overall. Excellent, or #2 is where most very strong originals or good restorations are. should need little or no work in any area, but may show minor imperfections in a limited number of areas, Show, or in some other guides, #1 cars are the best. Less than 5% of the collector cars out there, IMO.

Of course this is a good time of year to sell a convertible. I think these cars a somewhat seasonal, but not as much as it used to be - seems the market is pretty much year 'round these days. That may offset a slowing economy. I wonder how much that will change the guides overall - I believe Manheim uses actual sales results.
