The Melrose Missile, I believe it was a 64 Dodge drag car sponsored by a dealer on Melrose Ave in Los Angeles.

It had distinctive flames painted on the sides that looked like they were done with a half dry paint brush.

Yup- Melrose Missile was a series of drag cars sponsored by a dealer in Oakland, California. Car was run by Charlie DiBari and Tommy Grove. Started with a '62 and continued through the altered wheelbase '65 cars. The '63 car is on display at the NHRA Museum and on their site.

I haven't been able to find one, but if you do I sure would like to buy the heater core cover in the engine compartment.
It is the same as my 1953 Windsor Deluxe. By the way, is your car an automatic or straight shift. I believe that they dropped the fluid drive after the 1953 year model. Drove a 54
powerflyte Windsor in 1959 while I was living in Sylacauga.
The owner of the Dairy Queen had a 54 New Yorker with the 331
Hemi. He brought it in for service at W.H. Solley Motors on Broadway up from the High School. After school, my dad, a Chrysler Plymouth mechanic, asked me to deliver the car to its
owner who said he would drive me back. Did that car ever have power. It would run like a scalded dog. Ever since I have wanted a 54 New Yorker Deluxe with powerflyte. Oh, did you know that the powerflyte tranny had a rear pump and that you could push start the car. Can't do that with any other automatic. I always wanted to come back home but things didn't work out and I have been stuck in Florida.

Sorry. My car was pretty complete with only 6000 miles on it.
Only items I needed were the heater and body tags in the engine compartment and found them at Nostalgic Reflections in Washington State. Seveeral items for your 1954 sre currently on Ebay. Write him--he may have the other parts you need as it appeas he is parting out a '54. Good luck. Wish I were back in Talladega County.
