The brake hoses are the same front (2) and rear(1). I bought mine from Sacramento Vintage Ford. They are 15.5" long ( '39 to '48 Ford/Merc front) and matched what I removed from my car. Around $20 each.

Hi Wes,

I recently replaced all three (2 front, 1 rear) brake hoses on my 1941 Zephyr with Raybestos BH4497 hoses. I got these from my local auto parts store. They are a wee bit longer than the original hoses (who knows if they were REALLY original?) but seem to work OK.

Braided steel brake hoses are available from www.inlinetube.com. I got a set of these hoses for my power brake boosted '41 Continental but haven't installed them yet.

If you are planning on doing a brake job on your '48, try to get some asbestos brake linings. The new brake lining material doesn't produce enough friction to safely stop these cars. That's why I installed the Midland power brake booster on my '41 Continental.

I got mine at NAPA. They are Wagner F4497 and appear to be an exact replacement.
