Is there a thread that addresses how to remove the side trim pieces in the tonneau area? I got them off before but am having a bear of a time getting them off now...

ok....so it's all coming back to me now...Start at front bumper and remove everything as you make your way towards the trim piece..
Ok so I exaggerated..a little. I did a search and found nothing here on the forum. And my shop manual gives a 1 sentance with half the needed info. let me get through this and if there is any interest I can post a how-to with pics..

There are a few nuts on the inside of the tonneau area and then there are a few nuts on the door post area behind the stainless trim piece. You have to remove the door striker to remove the stainless trim piece so having a grease pencil to mark a circle around the door striker might be a good idea. You also have to remove the wiring that attaches to the 'top/tonneau' switch.

Exactly correct Ghosty... I am in the process of replacing the passenger rear window/motor so the tire/jack storage needs to come out. Here's what the shop manual says as far as removing the trim pieces prior to removing the tire storage...
1) remove side trim panels mounting nuts (2) and central mounting nut (3) located inside the tonneau under the carpet.
(hmmm...no carpet in MY tonneau storage..)
2) Remove side trim panels by levering with a screwdriver taking care not to damage the finish.
3) remove the central panel.
4) removes speakers.....

Whoa!! stop the bus Hoss...I think they missed a few steps there at the end of #2... remove door striker / remove rocker panel trim piece/remove striker stainless trim piece/remove 2 nuts behind striker panel. TRIM PIECE NOW CAN BE REMOVED...
jeesh....of course I cheated a little and didn't fully remove the stainless piece wink just moved it enough to get at the nuts. Dontcha just love clear concise instructions...lol
Well on to removing the rest of the interior parts tomorrow...
p.s. As long as I have my door posts removed, does any one know where I can get replacements that don't have the nylon sleeve all chewed up??

MB, I can check my parts car tomorrow and see what shape mine are in. You're talking about the nylon sleeve that goes on the bar for the latch?

Yes CC,but can the bushing be replaced or does the entire post need replacing?? (see the pic below)
Also I have another part need. The lever handle for my hard top latch broke. This is the one at the back of the hard top on the driver's side below the opera window. It snapped off leaving just enough of a stub to unhook latch so I could get the top off. Anyone have one of these available??

Flash - flash! You can still get the door striker from Chrysler! At least I did a year ago.

MB, For the handle, send a pm to David Simons who posts here. Really, really nice guy! He's the guy who had the mishap with the hardtop on the car he had shipped to him. I believe he still has what is left of his damaged hardtop (I can't speak for him but...) He might be willing to scavenge the handle off of his?
