1929 chrysler replaced brake fluid with silicone

i replaced brake fluid with silicone and now i have leaks that i didn't have before. the wheel and master cyl. where rebuilt the lines flushed and reassembled. the lines are copper with flair fittings, the flairs that were not touched know seep, the bleeders seep. has anyone had this problem with silicone

Silicone does seem to want to escape more than dot 3......

I too use the silicone and have the same exact problem with my '29 Chrysler. I would be curious for any suggestions also.

A friend of mind has 4 Amphicars and he was down at my shop a few weeks ago and noticed that I was rebuilding my rear brake cylinders. He stated that his amphis (2) with the silicone all seem to have a very slight drip coming out of the brake cylinders. I stuck to the Dot 3 as I bleed them out every year so moisture really isn't an issue.

I've used silicone in my 1929 and 33 Chrysler products for years and do not seem to have any leaking problems. You do need to cinch up a bit more on the hose to tube fittings. The spindly backing plate fittings do seem to be a worry but so far I've not broken any while tightening. If you have a persistent leak, you might check the seat on the leaking fitting. I realize this means rebleeding but you do wish to have brakes.
