I missed all of the BJ Auction because to me it is not real. I cannot afford to live with my head in that dreamworld. But I would have liked to see that one. Was there something special about it, like it had no miles or something?

You're probably right. In fact I kinda hope your right because I don't want to put mine away and never drive it again, which I would consider if these things sold for that price everyday.
Hahahaha

Yeah right I'm glad neither of my cars are worth anything. I don't want to say I'm totally careless....but I can safely assume there aren't hordes of people that are gonna line up to try and break into em and borrow them indefinitely. I totally feel safe having either parked outside of my garage (though the '38 is always inside anyhow).

The one sold on B-J was Red with a 4 speed.
Here some more info on the 69 GS:
1969 To fend off increasing competition, the 1969 Buick GS finally received standard functional hood scoops for cold-air induction. Buick claimed this increased horsepower by 8% and torque by 6% throughout the rev band but did not change the ratings of the engines. The GS350 and California GS powered by the 350 cid engine continued but the big news for 1969 was the addition of two options for the 400 engine, the base motor(340hp) and the Stage 1 officially pegged at a mere 345bhp, or just a 5 bhp increase over the base 400 cid engine. (Experts believe that it was more like 390bhp and it dropped 1/4 mile times by 1 second or more.)
Production for 1969:
GS350 2 Door thin pillar Coupe: 3,574
GS350 2 Door Hardtop: 6,305 GS400 2 Door Hardtop: 6,346 GS400 Stage 1 Hardtop: 1,256 GS400 Convertible: 1,564
GS400 Convertible Stage 1: 212
Here is the break down of the 69 GS's:
1969 Models .........................Manual.........Auto......Produced ........................3speed,.4speed,.350,..400 California GS 350-4v:...0.......0....3,574...0....3,574 Hardtop 350-4v:........233....632...5,440...0....6,305 Hardtop 400-4v:.........117....785....0....5,444..6,346 Hardtop 400 Stage1:.....9......415....0.....832...1,256 Convertible 400-4v:.....48.....213....0....1,303..1,564 Convertible 400 Stage1:.4......77.....0.....131....212
TOTAL GS PRODUCTION FOR 1969 19,257
Engines: GS350: 350 V8 280 bhp @ 4,600rpm, 375 lb-ft @ 2,800 rpm.
GS400: 400 V8 340 bhp @ 5,000rpm, 440 lb-ft @ 3,200 rpm.
GS400 Stage 1: 400 V8 345 bhp @ 5,800 rpm, 440 lb-ft @ 3,200 rpm. (the stage 1 was more like 390hp and 480lb-ft)
Performance: GS400 Stage 1 - 400/345: 0-60 in 5.6 sec, 1/4 mile in 13.8 sec @ 99 mph.

The stick shift Buicks are definitely rising in value very fast. I surmise due to their uniqueness. I'm safe driving my automatic trans car around.

"I'm safe driving my automatic trans car around."
Well if you think about it, out of 1,303 auto's GS400 convertibles made and you take out 60%(the rule of thumb for muscle cars)Then that only leaves 521(or less) left on the road, not many!!!

521 left may or may not be correct. Even so, only 1,300 to begin with is not a lot. But I'm still gonna drive mine and not worry about it.
Don't get me wrong. I watch all the time for inconsiderate drivers, those over the road dividers, cutting corners, tailgateing, passing on the right etc, but I also park the car where I can see it, away from other cars in the widest spot I can find and I block it in when parked in the garage so if someone wants to try to steal it from home they have to work to get it out.
But the joy of my cars is driving them on the road, and I hope to do a lot more of that this year.

I missed all of the BJ Auction because to me it is not real. I don't waste my time with BJ, it's truely not real when the seller can run up the bid.

Morning to all, I am new here and have a question for GS40069Stage1 or anyone in general: I have a 68 GS400, AT, Convertible that is currently in my father’s backyard and has been there since I joined the Army back in 1982 and is a basket case. I have a load of work to do, but the wife will know that I am not sitting in a VFW somewhere when ever I am able to get her home.
I have been surfing around the WEB and it seems that there were 2,454 GS400, AT, Convertibles built in 68, using the 60% best guess then there maybe 982 still on the road.
According to my VIN mine was built in the Wilmington, DE facility, I am wondering where I might find the total number of units produced there. The production number (last 6 digits) is 139215.
Do you have any thoughts or suggestions??
Thanks ~ JC JCSpringer2005@yahoo.com
