What would a fair price be for an instrument cover with perfect leather?

If you were looking for one to buy, how much would you be willing to pay?

If you were looking to sell one, how much would you ask for it?

I think you should factor in woodgrain vs not in your formula.

Then here is a universal buying vs selling stratagy.

Lets say we want to buy an item, we'd like to spend $10. for it. Now the same item to sell, use the 10X factor and it is now at $100.

It's only worth what it is worth to you (or a buyer) we've all seen inexpensive items go for crazy high prices and visa versa...

Hypothetically speaking of course...

Well, this one is woodgrain from my latest parts car. The leather on it isn't all that bad as it stands (you cannot see the damage from the driver's seat) but it has some of the classic shrinkage back by the windscreen edge that is visible but not obvious when looking through the windscreen.

The reason I'm asking about pricing is I'm considering recovering this one in nice brown leather with the seam, new foam and everything. Just wanting to see if it would be worth my while to do it sooner rather than later.... or if I should bother at all.

If there is interest, then I will pursue it and see how it turns out and sell it outright. If it turns out well then I might offer to recover them for others on the board, so I'm trying to get an idea what someone might pay.

But if no one is interested, I have plenty of other projects I can do and will shelve it for another time. I am fortunate that Guido's has not shrunk and therefore is not in need of my services for now.

Now you're talking. I'd go $150. for it recovered if I send you the leather and the cluster cover. So that is the labor only price if you think you can make it look reasonably factory I don't know how to work with leather but I know you do.

I just had mine redone. Cost me $75.00. Their leather and labor. They also heated up the plastic and bent it back into shape. It looks great.

I got one from Chick which really needs recovering for about $45..
