My 36 Chrysler 8 is newly painted and it's time to get serious about running board rubber. I really would like to keep original type rubber on my boards. I have been on this forum for along time looking for help. Any new people or ideas out there? I also need the stainless mouldings that go on the outside edge of the boards. Any leads would be appreciated. Email Impconsent@aol.com.

I don't have any pictures of the car, sorry to say. I'll take a bunch soon. The paint job turned out great, and today the car went to get the interior redone. Original interior was still in the car and not in too bad of condition, so it will be able to be duplicated exactly. I have really struck out on rubber, I've spent days on the phone and computer trying to find someone who has some or will reproduce it. Problem is, there is not enough demand to cover the huge costs of making it. But I'm determined.

Contact the WPC Chrysler club. There was a guy 20 years ago,
who had a die, to extude this rubber. FRom this point you will
need to do a lot of cutting and timming. IT will be as close
as your going to get. At that time 20 years ago, he wanted and arm and 3 legs. If he still will sell the stuff, I bet
you need to take out a loan. Maybe he will sell the die?
If so please let me know..

Greg,
Are you talking about the running board rubbers for an Airflow or Airstream?
If its an Airflow is it a C9 or C10.

Since I last wrote looking for running board rubber, I have decided to give in and do what everyone else has had to do, put on the incorrect rubber. I talked to Russ Parker, whom I respect very much and has been very helpful in my restoration, and he said that he bought 33 Imperial rubber and modified it somewhat to fit his boards. I have purchased this also and will do the same. However, after viewing rubber on the 37 C-17 Airflow, which is being reproduced, I believe it can be modified to look exactly like the 36 Airstream rubber. The problem is it will require two sets of rubber mats to make one, which makes it quite spendy. I don't know which way I will go yet. Thanks for all the interest in this subject.
