thanks to everyone for the tips. I have just spent the weekend scrubbing every inch of the upper and lower a-arms and saw no cracks on the frame. However, I will look for this area of possible cracking tomorrow at the shop. I have the apple green in hand. Thank you for looking that up. Any photos of the engine compartments of a 57 engine compartment would be much appreciated.

The cracks would be along the welds and tend to propagate forward to aft. Even if there are no very evident cracks it is easy to strenghten the welds with the engine out but very difficult to do with it in place........Bob
