Fellow member of the Alamance Region, Earl Ewing passed away Saturday morning in his sleep. His health had been failing over the past several months.

David, sometimes I think that's the best way to go. A friend's dad was buried yesterday, and 2 years ago today I took Mama to the hospital. She never came home. Always sad to lose someone around a significant holiday; Mama left at Christmas, my dad, grandma and a favorite aunt all died at Easter. Those holidays are tough.

David,

Sorry to hear of your loss in the Alamance Region. The AACA family gets smaller each time such a loss occurs.

2007 has been a tough year in our region with 6 longtime members passing in just one year.

I know. Andrea lost her grandmother between Christmas and New Years I believe 2 years ago (It may ahve been 3. I have a hard time remembering what happened in what years). Her mom won't admit it being tough not having her around but her atitude shows it. Andrea has a pretty good handle on dealing with the memories and the holidays. If her grandmother was still around, last night (24th) we would have packed 70+ folks into her house for dinner. I actually miss that tradition.

My Mom passed on just 2 weeks ago from Cancer and then we got presents from her yesterday (that was very difficult). Something about getting sympathy cards with Christmas cards that is extra sad. My sister passed Dec 3rd, 1997

I am always very sympathetic to anyone's loss especially now.

I never met the man but it is difficult to hear of his loss at this time of the year. It always seems so insignificant to say "please accept our condolences" at a time like this, but what else can be said?
My prayers go out to his family and all his friends.

I know what you're saying. I lost two of my grandparents at Christmas time. Back in 1993 I remember going to the funeral home on Christmas Eve with my dad to make funeral arrangements for my grandmother. She died in Florida, so we had to have her body shipped from Florida to New York.

On another somber note, the wife of a very well known member of GVACS Region, the local region of the Early Ford V8 CLub, and a former donut maker is terminally ill. Here it is holiday time, this couple has given so much to the club and the hobby, and they had to spend Christmas knowing that his wife most likely won't be around this same time next year. I feel bad knowing that the person has done so much for so many others can't really be helped.
