Changing coil pac on my 90. Seems simple but I have never done this so here's is my plan. I'll disconnect the battery, remove the plug ends from the coil, undo the bolt and wiring at the bottom of the coil. I'll then remove the three bolts which hold the coil assembly in place and remove the assembly. I'll then install in reverse order. Is this correct or are there any other issues which I may not be aware of? Like: Is there any changes to the electrical wiring connector or anything like that?
Thanks, Non Mechanic.

Just make sure that the plugs are the same.

Yup, you've got it right. As mentioned by viking, keep track of your plug wires. Just in case, cylinder 1 is front-passenger, 2nd is rear passenger...and 6 is back driver's side.

I have a new style coil pack form a 91 that I would like to use on my 90. Problem is the contact pins on the coil pack appear to be tarnished. I cleaned them with contact cleaner but they still appear to be tarnished. Any recommendations on how to best clean then.
Thanks

The symptoms described in the padgett link have given me the prompt needed to order the magnovox coil pack. I actually had planned on doing it - then wasn't confident enough so returned the part. Now, his words pretty much have me believing that is the problem. That, and the fact my mechanic is ailing with a bad back, has me prepared to throw at least this one part at the car. Seems simple enough__as I drop to knees with hands on high.

I made the change out and seems the skip as described in the Padgett is gone. I only drove it once since the change - could not make it skip. However, the no start warm continues. I only changed the coil pack....not what it bolts to (ignition module?). Should that be changed as well?
